Arkansas State’s chances of ending 2025 with a winning record hinge on Thursday’s result against Missouri State when the two programs collide in the Xbox Bowl. Microsoft has taken ownership of the bowl slot previously allocated to the Bahamas Bowl, giving either school the opportunity to unlock one final achievement before the season is through.
That goes double for the Bears' senior quarterback, Jacob Clark, who will round off his college career with dreams of a flourish to end a 7-5 season, their first in the FBS ladder. That record wasn’t far off earning first-place honors in the Conference USA, with interim head coach Nick Petrino set to debut in the position following Ryan Beard’s move to Coastal Carolina.
Arkansas State has visions of its own in bringing home bowl glory once more after Butch Jones led the team to victory over Bowling Green in last year’s 68 Venutres Bowl. The Red Wolves finished 6-6 in the West Division of the Sun Belt Conference and enter this matchup as firm favorites.
Fans can expect a barnstormer after these two teams produced a 77-point blockbuster when they last met 10 years ago. The downside for the Bears is that they came off as 70-7 losers on that occasion.
