Newly released doorbell footage shows the moment a man covered in blood tried to break down his neighbour’s door while carrying a sword.

Jan Dziedzic, 36, caused ‘mayhem’ after getting drunk on brandy whilst making a Christmas Cake at his flat in Belvedere, southeast London, a court heard.

The Japanese culture enthusiast told Woolwich Crown Court he had no memory of the incident in November last year.

Footage shows Dziedzic at the door of a neighbour he didn’t know, covered in blood with black headphones on his head.

He’s seen wielding a long samurai sword, which he uses to repeatedly bang on his neighbour’s door.

Dziedzic was heard shouting, ‘Come on… You piece of s***! Go f*** yourself!’, before slamming a corridor door shut and leaving the scene.

He was jailed for one year after admitting to charges of affray, criminal damage and possessing a bladed article in public.

Judge Ruth Downing said she was ‘troubled’ enough by Dziedzic’s behaviour that she felt she had no choice but to send him to prison.

The court heard that Dziedzic and his neighbour were on no more than ‘speaking terms’ when he turned up at her door armed with a weapon.

‘You were covered in blood and, no doubt to your neighbours – decent human beings – this was an alarming sight,’ Judge Downing said.

‘Your neighbour suffered genuine distress. Why should she have to go through that?’

The court heard Dziedzic had gotten drunk on brandy on the night of the incident, on November 11 last year, whilst making a Christmas cake at his flat.

Dziedzic said he was mortified about his behaviour and was appalled when shown the footage of the chaos he caused.

He will serve at least six months in prison before he is released on licence.

Judge Downing implored him to seek assistance on his release from prison to address why he caused the “mayhem” he did that night.
