Ant and Dec have shared their candid feelings about hosting the Brit Awards ahead of tonight’s ceremony.

The I’m A Celebrity duo have hosted the coveted British music awards not once, not twice, but three times over the past two decades, and they have one message: ‘Never again’.

On the latest episode of their new podcast, Hanging Out with Ant and Dec, they divulged exactly what put them off the gig – including a cheeky dig at the Chris Martin-helmed band Coldplay (one of the most decorated bands in Brits history).

The last time the award-winning TV personalities hosted the Brits was in 2016 (they also hosted in 2001 and 2015), so it’s been a decade since they last agreed take on the role – for good reason.

Explaining their wariness, Ant said: ‘It’s a fun night if you’re nominated. It’s a fun night, not necessarily, if you’re hosting it, though, because everybody in the room just wants to get drunk and have a good time.

‘Yet you’re trying to wrangle the whole crowd, and you’re also trying to present the TV show, and also all the artists and bands who said they would happily do an interview with you before the show starts, always change their mind.’

The reminiscing took a more specific turn at this point as Ant explained:

‘They’ll say “Down in the middle of the show Coldplay are going to do an interview with you”.

‘You’re like: “Great it’s going to be a great show”. And then come to the night, like, 10 minutes before you go live, they say: “Hmm Coldplay don’t really want to do an interview before they perform”.’

Dec intervened at this point quipping: ‘This is the start of Ant’s beef with Chris Martin’ although Ant was quick to deny any tension, saying: ‘I don’t have any beef.’

In the end, Dec concluded that there’s no better feeling than successfully wrapping up the show.

Although they did note that they totally missed Madonna falling on stage at the end of the 2015 Brits, as they were too busy celebrating with champagne backstage.

We may not catch them hosting the Brit Awards tonight, but they will be helming Britain’s Got Talent, which is airing just before, so fans won’t be too bereft.

This year’s Brit Awards 2026 will be hosted by comedian and actor Jack Whitehall, a familiar face on the Brit stage, and it is shaping up to be a memorable night.

Not only because it is set outside of London (in Manchester) for the first time ever.
