A teenage boy has been arrested after a girl reported being violently sexually assaulted at a park in Romford.
The sex attack was reported to have taken place at Cottons Park near Marks Road at 7.30pm on Sunday.
Police rushed to the scene and spoke to the victim, a woman in her late teens.
She was taken to hospital where she continues to be supported by specialist officers.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
He remains in police custody.
It is believed the suspect and the victim were known to each other and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘A cordon is in place in Cottons Park, Romford, while officers carry out further enquiries.
‘We appreciate the concern that this will cause, but we want to reassure people that we have a person in custody and have increased patrols in the local area.’
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: ‘We were called at 7.49pm on Sunday 15 February to reports of an incident on Recreation Avenue, Romford.
‘We sent an ambulance crew and a paramedic in a fast response car to the scene. We treated a woman at the scene and took her to hospital as a priority.’
