(Picture: Getty Images) While speaking on a recent episode of the We Need to Talk podcast, the 42-year-old admitted that both she and Orlando 'knew that the relationship was not bringing out the best in each other.' She added: 'And so when we made that decision separate, I said to him, "Let's always put the needs of Flynn first."' (Picture: Getty Images) Miranda then revealed the pair have done a 'lot of spiritual work' since, which she confessed was needed for them to be able to co-parent in a positive way. She said that 'forgiving each other, forgiving ourselves,' and 'creating peace within the situation,' was a non-negotiable. This allowed the exes to ensure that the situation was never about themselves, but instead focused on 'what's in the best interest' for their son. (Picture: Getty Images) She said: 'At the same time, let's make sure that we completely forgive each other, make peace with each other, because otherwise it really weighs on you,' adding: 'When you have a child with someone else, they're always going to be that person's parent for the rest of their life.' (Picture: Getty Images) However, Miranda revealed that at first, things weren't plain sailing between the two. Especially when it came to setting boundaries. She explained: 'And in the beginning, when Orlando and I had recently separated, I was just very, very giving, as always, and wanting to please. And if Orlando had a last-minute change — and he would say this himself — I would always accommodate him to that.' (Picture: Getty Images) That was until Miranda's current husband, Evan Spiegel, co-founder of Snapchat, came into the mix. Miranda admitted that Evan 'has good boundaries,' and encouraged her to say no when she needed to. Eventually, Miranda arrived at a point where she could say to her ex-husband. She would often say: 'I'm so sorry that your plans changed, but we planned according to this.' (Picture: Getty Images) Thankfully, Miranda and Orlando are on good terms these days. Describing themselves as 'great friends,' she revealed how Orlando recently thanked her for 'being such a wonderful mother to Flynn.' He reportedly also thanked Miranda for being a 'great friend to him,' and shared how 'grateful' he is to have her in his life. The model admitted that she also feels the same way, and responded to Orlando with: 'Thank you for everything that you are and being such a… wonderful father to Flynn.' The pair went on to welcome three children together: Hart, seven, Myles, six, and Pierre, 23 months. (Picture: Getty Images) Meanwhile, Orlando eventually met popstar Katy Perry in 2016, and despite a brief breakup between 2017 and 2018, the pair got engaged in 2019. They also welcomed a daughter, Daisy Dove, in August 2020. Sadly, their romance was not to be, as they called off their engagement in June 2025.
