Warning: This article contains spoilers from The Traitors series 4 final.

The Traitors star Jack has revealed the one moment that the entire cast is ‘gutted’ didn’t make it to screens.

Last night, Jack narrowly missed out on splitting the £95,750 jackpot with fellow faithful Faraaz after being outsmarted by traitors Rachel and Stephen right at the final hurdle.

It was the most nail-biting finish in Traitors’ history, watched by more than 9.4 million people live.

It’s been a series of unforgettable moments, some more painful than others — Fiona and Harriet, we’re looking at you — and some of the best gameplay imaginable.

But Jack teased one moment to Metro, which was shredded on the cutting room floor, that the cast were bummed didn’t make it to television.

‘The one thing that didn’t make the edit that we were gutted about, we were all chatting in the kitchen, and I used an Oreo and a digestive to make a table and stack jelly babies around it. We made a Jelly Baby roundtable. We even put Claudia Winkleman up on a little platform, and we were all gutted it wasn’t in an episode.’

There was no space for inside jokes, though, as this was by far the most eventful series of The Traitors to date. From the secret traitor to Harriet sparring with Rachel, and Fiona needlessly throwing herself to the wolves for reasons that will never be clear, it was a chef’s kiss of a series from start to finish, with the best possible outcome.

Surely, if you’re going to lose to any traitors, at least it’s the two best we’ve ever seen.

Jack agreed: ‘Rachel and Stephen were ruthless, but they were phenomenal. Rachel, tactically, was incredible. She was so convincing in everything she said and calculated what she did, but Stephen was just great at embodying a faithful.

‘They both deserved it, they’re both great traitors in their own right.’

The pieces just lined up perfectly for Rachel and Stephen, though they also placed them exactly where they needed to be, very carefully. Going into the final, there wasn’t a clear path for Rachel to survive the first banishment, let alone win.

Jack says there was one genius move that clinched the traitor’s win.

‘One of the most brilliant plays was Rachel convincing us she was going to go to vote for Stephen, and Stephen had convinced me he was going to also go with me and vote for Rachel.

‘I’ve gone into that end game thinking Stephen and me, and that got in my head. Rachel got in Faraaz’s head; she obviously blindsided him and voted for him, but told us he was going to work for Stephen.

’It was all like a numbers game for the traitors, but the tactics and how they calculated that it was executed to perfection. Faraaz and I were just standing there looking like chumps, flipping our board around, not realising what was coming to us.’

Watching the series back, did Jack kick himself after missing the clues?

‘There are two things that spring to mind,’ he says. ‘Stephen, at one round table, let out a Freudian slip, talking about a point that he made and instead of saying “discussing it this morning”, he said “we spoke about it last night.” Obviously, the traitors meet in the turret at night, when all us faithfuls are asleep in bed.

‘Then, obviously, in the final episode, Rachel said “if I were a faithful” when she meant to say “if I was a traitor”, which was another massive one but in that moment, I’m still crying about James. I felt terrible, and it just didn’t go in – I was too busy crying.’

Jack slipped under the radar for viewers in the early episodes but emerged as one of the most pivotal players when it mattered most. He concedes: ‘I may not have been the most entertaining player, but I truly believe that’s what kept me in the game for so long, starting quieter and then gradually building up into the game, becoming more vocal.

‘At least, it worked for me. I got to the end.’
